This is an intensive reading, research, and discussion course that will address selected topics in African-American history, including the African background, the institution of slavery, Abolitionism, the Reconstruction era, migration out of the South, the Civil Rights Movement, and African-American intellectual traditions.

Prerequisite(s): HIST 106 and HIST 107 or permission of the instructor.
