PHYS 433 - Physical Techniques in Biology When Offered: F, S
3 Credit(s) 3 Lecture Hour(s) 0 Lab Hour(s)
This course discusses using physical tools to investigate biological systems. The first major topic is microscopy and imaging, covering optical microscopy, fluorescence microscopy and different fluorescence techniques (including fluorescence resonance energy transfer and super high-resolution fluorescence microscopy). The second major topic is micro/nanofabrication and micro/nanofluidics, covering lithography and lab-on-a-chip applications. Other methods discussed include protein crystallography and atomic force microscopy.
Prerequisite(s): PHYS 242 .
