This is a study of the major groups of soil organisms, including their classification and relation to soil environments. The abundance, significance, and functions of soil microorganisms as well as their role in chemical cycles in soil will be discussed. The laboratory will emphasize methods for studying soil microbes.

Prerequisite(s): BIOL 220 or BIOL 221 (please see undergraduate catalog).
