The Couples, Marriage, and Family Counseling certificate will further prepare students to work in settings that specialize in counseling couples, children, and families. The certificate is designed to give students advanced training in the area of couples, marriage and family counseling. Grounded in family theory and principles, the certificate coursework provides an additional opportunity for students to specialize their counseling degree in the clinical, rehabilitation, and school counseling areas. Couples, marriage and family counseling differs from other types of counseling as the focus of treatment is considered the couple or family unit rather than the individual.

  • Only students formally admitted to the Department of Counseling at North Carolina A & T State University program are eligible to apply for the Marriage and Family Counseling certificate program as an add-on certificate.
