Program Overview:
The Advanced Certificate in Family and Consumer Sciences Program will provides individuals with a strong foundation in teaching methods, classroom management, curriculum development, assessment, leadership, education technology, and content knowledge in family and consumer sciences. Specifically, the program provides a focusd sequence of 18 credit hours of online courses for individulas who are committed to preparing students for familylife, work life or for careers in family and consumer sciences. This curriculum does not constitute the requirements for a teaching licensure or specialization in family and consumer sciences.
Admission Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Cumulative grade point average of 2.6 or higher
- Completed Graduate College application, including official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities attended and application fee
Additional Information
- The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required, but students who wish to pursue the Master of Arts in Teaching in Family and Consumer Sciences (MAT-FCS) will be required to complete the admissions process and meet requirements for admissions. Up to 12 credit hours of the courses earned in the certificate program may transfer into the MAT-FCS program.
