This course covers the engineering concepts for biological conversion of raw materials to food, pharmaceuticals, fuels, and chemicals. Emphasis is placed on energy balance, material balance, fluid flow and mixing, heat and mass transfer, bioreaction kinetics, design, analysis, instrumentation, and control of bioreactors.

Prerequisite(s): BIOE 350 and BIOL 221 or equivalent.
