The biocompatibility issues of biomaterials will be discussed from different aspects such as protein adsorption, foreign body reaction, immune and inflammatory response and sterilization. In the laboratory, students design processes and material compositions to enhance properties of biomaterials.

Prerequisite(s): BIOL 101  (or BMEN 101 ), BMEN 220 , CHEM 221 .
