This course covers the theory and application of genetic algorithms. Genetic algorithms combine a Darwinian survival-of-the-fittest with a randomized, yet structured, information exchange to form an improved search mechanism with surprising robustness. Engineering applications of genetic algorithms for design and control will be presented.
